Job: Project Engineer/QCM

Position: Project Engineer/ Quality Control Manager

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of construction or related field experience
  • Not required but preferred: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors Certification (for Federal projects only)


What You'll Do

  • Create, update and maintain the project submittal register, project schedule and all other project specific quality control reports.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications.
  • Review project schedules to ensure that submittals and materials are available when needed.
  • Provide Quality Control reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project’s established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner.
  • Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work.
  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project.
  • Conduct preconstruction meetings with new and existing subcontractors and the superintendent to discuss issues that affect quality.
  • Conduct final inspections and prepare punch lists.
  • Maintain the project “as-built” drawings on a daily basis.
  • Assemble and forward project closeout documents that include O&M manuals, as-builts and warranties.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned projects.
  • Work with owner representatives and DOR to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Responsible for the 3 phases of control required for project delivery (Preparatory, Initial, and Follow Up)
  • Perform quality control tasks on schedules, plans, and personnel performance and reporting on the project’s status.
  • Cooperate and communicate with the Project Manager and other project participants to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project’s profitability.
  • Review the project tasks and initiate the necessary corrective actions to resolve matters that affect quality, safety and/or inhibit the progress of the work.
  • Work with project team to ensure deliverables are on site per schedule and specifications.
  • Establish and coordinate field test methods and methods for monitoring the quality of those tests.
  • Coordinate commissioning of building systems.
  • Ensure the project’s compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving scheduling conflicts with project manager and project superintendent.
  • Attend and facilitate preconstruction conferences, utility coordination meetings, and weekly meetings to discuss progress or concerns on projects.
  • Communicate and prepare correspondence with the project manager, project owner and AE team through change orders, RFI’s and submittals.
  • Assist in developing scope sheets for subcontractors.
  • Maintain the construction documents “up to date” by incorporating addendums, ASI’s, as-built notes, etc. Receive approved submittals from design team and verify schedule adherence
  • Inform Accounting Department/Certified Payroll Clerk of subcontractor’s commencement of work.
  • Other duties as required/assigned by the company.


Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
  • Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry (Procore, RMS/QCS, and other typical construction formats).
  • A conscientious awareness of job activities and adhering to progress schedules
  • Knowledge of construction site safety requirements
  • Supervision is a plus
  • Proficiency in building technologies and engineering systems
  • Paperless document control
