Commercial Contracting

Aztec’s commercial division understands and appreciates the true concept of adhering to chain of commands in the government arena. We hold these same principals with our Construction Team. Our in house professionals and Construction Managers guarantee our clients the delivery of high quality finished projects on time and within budget. Reeves County Detention Center (RCDC)

Name: Reeves County Detention Center (RCDC).

Owner: Reeves County.

Location: Pecos, Texas.

Funding: Local

In 1984 Aztec Contractors took over the construction of Reeves County Detention Center at the request of request of Reeves County Commissioner when the design built team that initiated the project was unable to perform in a timely manner and within budget. Mr. Frank X. Spencer and his team was able to assess the projects construction status, budget, and determine the additional cost to complete the project while making progress on the project with extremely difficult conditions at a total construction cost of $6 million.

Presidio Independent School District New High School

Name: Presidio Independent School District New High School.

Owner: Presidio Independent School District.

Location: Presidio, Texas.

Funding: Local

Construction Management Contract for the design, development, and construction of a 65,000 squared feet High School facility at a cost of $3.8 million. This project was completed in 1996.

Food Processing Plants

Name: Food Processing Plants.

Owner: Anchor Foods.

Location: Pecos, Texas.

Anchor Foods under various work authorizations retained our services to perform professional surveying, engineering, and construction management, projects to expand the plant. The expansions were performed since 1990 to 2000, when Anchor Foods sold the company. Our firm continues to work on the plant. All of the work authorizations were completed on time and under budget. During the period of time total cost of construction was $12 million.

Presidio Urban Levee

Name: Presidio Urban Levee

Owner: International Boundary and Water Commission

Location: Presidio, Texas

 Aztec Contractors shall prepare engineered designs for the widening of the top of levee flex base width from its existing twelve 12 foot width to the proposed 16 foot width. The designs shall meet the requirements of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineering Manual 1110-2-1913, entitled, “Design and Construction of Levees”.  The designs shall also meet the requirements of the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) found in 44 CFR Section 65.10 (Code of Federal Regulations, Title 44 – Emergency Management Administration, Section 65.10 – Mapping of Areas Protected by Levee Systems) and fully address all FEMA Levee Certification Requirements.  The top of the levee shall be designed as a minimum 16-foot wide maintenance road consisting of a 6-inch layer of flex-base material directly placed on the finished embankment material. The 16 foot top flex base width is measured from the top of flex base and doesn’t include the impervious existing top of levee requirements or the width of fill which will need to be a minimum of 18.75 feet to accommodate for the 3:1 and 2.5:1 slopes on either embankment.  The levee shall be widened on the floodplain side.
