When it comes to the story of Aztec Contractors; it’s all about family, a love for building and West Texas.
The company was founded by Frank X. Spencer in 1989 and sold to his son Frank Spencer III in 2006. With his purchase of the company, Frank brought a combination of financial lending and continued a family legacy of building. Frank currently holds a loan officer license in Texas and New Mexico and spent several years in the mortgage industry in San Antonio. Later moving to West Texas, Frank worked for several years originating loans and helping builders in El Paso with lines of credit for construction.
It was just a natural step for the third generation Spencer to venture into the construction business. Frank was reared in Pecos, Texas and graduated from New Mexico Military Institute, and then followed with a Bachelor of Arts degree at Texas A&M University.
The family building legacy began with his father, Frank X. Spencer. The father has been the driving force and principle Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor in Frank X. Spencer and Associates since 1978. He also served as President of Aztec Contractors, Inc. since 1989 through December 2005, until the company was sold to the third generation. It has been largely through Frank X. Spencer’s efforts that Aztec Construction has been synonymous with quality construction, integrity, and professionalism throughout Southwest Texas.
